With the soaring cost of gas prices.Mass transport is again put into perspective.Specially here in the Philippines, were our mode of mass transport is stuck in the 40's,in the form of jeepneys. With a govt. who has no political will to change long percieved wrong ways. The masses will bear the brunt as usual, while govt. officials shake their heads inside their air-conditioned 4x4 cars, contemplating an alternative shorter picnic for their family. We should have turned to railway for mass transport a long time ago,but alas, our penchant to copy the american way of life which is to travel by car is now proving to be a major mistake. Is it late? I don't know, but I pray someone in that Arroyo govt. has got some sense still and insist that trains is the way for us as far as mass transport is concerned.

public transport is truly the way to go. we should really revive the rail infrastructure. the masses need an alternative way to get to work. furthermore, the lines are already in place. all we need to do is spruce up the cars and stations and iron out the schedules and fares
Again, this belief of the american way of life, the love for cars is a totally absurd idea that we filipinos should forget. We are learning it the hard way these days with the soaring oil prices!Unfortunately,it's the poor who gets affected.Caryn, observe how our politicians talk about a better transport system for pinoys?....Nada,they don't talk about it.Because they don't need it.Most of them ride with their 4x4's and just don't give a care!
It's now a choice of a lesser evil,GMA's overprized railway but the masses still get the needed transport system or an apathetic political system oblivious to the needs of the people?
