Edsa bus claims another life and counting.....

Another life snuffed out uselessly, another one to follow. When will something concretely be done once and for all about this problem of Metro Manila buses and its moronic and ill-trained to drive drivers. This accident is not the first and won't be the last. And I blame LTO for this. For there are no solutions that are being discussed to remedy the deadly cycle. In a TV interview, the only thing that the boss of LTO said about the accident was that the franchise of the said buses is suspended.
What I wanted to hear was,LTO should be starting a more stringent test for public utility vehicles. My God,this drivers not only can kill themselves, but the lives of others as well.So LTO for God's sake! do your job, have a more proper practical and theoretical exam for PUV drivers.Magtrabaho naman kayo!!(Tnx Expres00 for your pics)

On Holy Ground

Last year for my birthday,my wife gave me the gift of the lifetime ..so far.No it's not a baby! Soon we might. It's tickets to watch my favorite football team in the world,Arsenal at the Emirates stadium,Arsenals home ground.Nothing can beat that feeling watching your team live for the first time. It's like watching my first NCAA game in Rizal coliseum between my school Letran and the enemy San Beda.Electrifying your whole body only in stronger current. With 60,000 fans chanting a singular team,Superb....And I know somehow,Arsenal will get that elusive UEFA champions league soon....By the way Arsenal won the game against lowly Wigan,to top off the perfect birtday gift.

Always been a San Miguel basketball team fan in the PBA.But since Cojuangco stepped in and started buying all the teams in the league,I completely got turned off on San Miguel.Indeed PBA has become a San Miguel basketball tournament.Talk about fairness....I remember funnily, that Cojuangco does this in horseracing as well.He usually have hundreds of horses running at the same time...Thus,I support Red Bull now. With 3 or more teams to choose from why Red Bull? It's because I think they have a sound basketball program, with the genius and very smart coach in the helm. It's amazing that with not too many big time names in Philippine basketball, they were able to be competitive in the San Miguel league este PBA.I like Red Bull bec. they have a coach who isn't cow towed by the overprized players in dictating how to play basketball. There are no superstars in Red Bull, and so, that makes them a superteam.Just ask all the Cojuangco teams in the San Miguel league who they fear in the play-offs.(Tnx llamaramas for your Flickr pics)

Respect your fans PBA!

So the PBA 2008 All-Filipino has begun.OK,I just hope the millionaire players hasn't forgotten that they are playing not only for their corporation but for the fans as well.Without the fans, even with that oodles of money,it does not mean anything if you are playing behind empty seats.I do also hope the PBA for once, give emphasis to the importance of fans in the game.Respect your fans PBA players and they will come!!

Filipino Braveheart

(Heneral Sakay,third from left-sitting)

On Sept.13,1907 Heneral Sakay was hanged by the american invaders for "insurgency".Does it sound familiar? After 100 years they still call people who fight for independence insurgents.

Anyway,Heneral Sakay is finally given the overdue recogniton he obviously deserves. He gets a monument in his place in Tondo, where he was born.Indeed another feather in the cap of the place where I grew up as well.Tondo the place of heroes. Not just a place of abject poverty and rampant criminality.

Heneral Sakay, for me is our filipino "Braveheart".There is an uncanny similarity of the history that enveloped this heroes life.Take for example the political squabbling in the filipino revolutionarios that time.He was a major part in trying to unify the doomed fight against the american invaders. He's end came like William Wallace's as well.Betrayed by his own people. At the end he refused to be branded as an insurgent but a freedom fighter.Which he actually is!For me and the rest of filipinos who "Know" the real history!History by filipinos and not by anyone else.

Is England back in the groove?

Fantastic game from England last night,up against the very formidable Croatians, there was a weird calmness into how England played.Their ability to control the game from start to finish.Just waiting for the right chance to score and when that came,Theo Walcott the Beckham replacement bravely put the ball into the net.The teenager was playing a perfect game,as he rarely commited mistakes, which he's known at Arsenal for attributed to his lack of football sense.Last night though was a different story. He was there,at the right place at the right time.

As for the rest of the England team, they were so consistent from defense to midfield.Brilliant passes from Rooney, and Heskey creating havoc on Croatian defense.Truly Fabio Capello's managerial brilliance is slowly being felt. Now,what England needs is more consistency and with Capello at the helm, that's quite achievable.(Thanks doyuomindthegap for your pics)

We cannot expect anything from Arroyo's policy on tackling our population problem.we all know she's a devote catholic and being one,she will definitely say no to artificial birth control. It's up to congress to do something about it.If the senate acts the better. The Catholic church in the Philippines to be fair has been consistent on it's teachings. So it's really up to the govt. to decide. Is it for the people's right to decide for themselves or to follow the catholic teaching.Meanwhile, more & more poor kids go hungry and if they survive this, become criminals and menace to filipino society.(Thanks jdj92088 for your pic)

Philippine Football Federation (PFF) is launching a new football league in a few weeks time.Apparently will be called Premiere League. We should not expect too much from this but it will be a good start for reviving the sagging popularity of the game we filipinos should be playing.I'm not sure about the leagues name, but again it's better than nothing. (I meant the football league)I do hope the Younghusbands will play in the league because football needs poster boys to heighten curiosity among ordinary pinoys who I think is unfamiliar with football already.PFF specially needs the support of media if they actually aim to be successful this time.Goodluck to PFF,goodluck to Philippine football.(Thanks Pinoy Soccer for the pics.)

With the soaring cost of gas prices.Mass transport is again put into perspective.Specially here in the Philippines, were our mode of mass transport is stuck in the 40's,in the form of jeepneys. With a govt. who has no political will to change long percieved wrong ways. The masses will bear the brunt as usual, while govt. officials shake their heads inside their air-conditioned 4x4 cars, contemplating an alternative shorter picnic for their family. We should have turned to railway for mass transport a long time ago,but alas, our penchant to copy the american way of life which is to travel by car is now proving to be a major mistake. Is it late? I don't know, but I pray someone in that Arroyo govt. has got some sense still and insist that trains is the way for us as far as mass transport is concerned.
